How Mothers Can Prioritize Themselves to Thrive in Motherhood
Motherhood can be overwhelming, leaving many women struggling with postpartum recovery, fatigue, and motherhood burnout. If you’ve ever wondered how to prioritize yourself as a mom, this post is for you. Drawing insights from my book, The Motherhood Reset, you’ll learn practical ways to reclaim your energy, improve maternal wellbeing, and thrive in everyday motherhood, without feeling guilty. These strategies are designed to help overwhelmed mothers make small, intentional shifts that lead to lasting confidence, calm, and happiness.
Why did you write this book?
I sat down to write this book because I see so many intelligent, capable, and strong women drowning in motherhood. They lose their spark, energy, and possibly even their health as they try to navigate this new terrain. My heart goes out to these struggling moms. I get it. I was there too.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. I want these women to reclaim their power by taking real care of themselves. They will then be able to do meaningful work in the world, create the positive future they want for their children, and be fulfilled in motherhood and all aspects of their lives. I know this is possible.
Why are you so passionate about helping moms become more vibrant?
I am passionate about helping moms move out of exhaustion and start thriving in motherhood because I know it is feasible. It is possible to find a way of mothering that works for you and supports you to be a calm, content, and confident mama. I know this firsthand and from witnessing the journey in other mothers.
When moms are not drowning in motherhood burnout and fatigue, they can do the best for their little ones. When moms finally dedicate themselves to prioritizing their own wellbeing, they naturally become even more attuned, caring, and patient with their kids. Their cup is full, so they can truly support others.
I know that moms can create incredibly meaningful lives for themselves alongside doing the best they can for their little ones. They don’t have to choose one or the other. When moms are aligned and on purpose, they can do anything (just not everything for everyone all the time, though, remember). And our little ones need us to take care of ourselves, and the world at large needs us to as well. Vibrant mamas are the ones creating positive, meaningful changes on this planet. I want you to do the same!
How do you help moms persevere through challenges?
I guarantee there will be challenges. We are mamas, after all. Parenting is tough! So, first of all, when you hit a stumbling block, know that it is normal and be kind to yourself at that moment. Then remind yourself of the vibrant mama inside of you. Check in with her. And take the next step or make the next choice with her in mind. You will not do this perfectly. No one will. But it is in the consistent micro shifts that you make daily that build up to create real, lasting confidence and happiness.
What’s your wish for readers once they’ve read your book?
My wish is that this book is the first step for each mama that reads it to start prioritizing herself and treating herself like the goddess she is. My hope is that this book will start her life-long journey of each day making intentional choices, taking small steps, and creating habits that support her to be her most vibrant self. This goes beyond motherhood. These small, consistent steps can grow you in any area you desire and will add up to a meaningful and fulfilling life overall.
Actions to get started on the journey to becoming a vibrant mama
The first step is gaining clarity about what sort of mama you want to be and getting super clear on this. From there, it is all about keeping this vision with you as you go about your day. Keep it front of mind when you are making decisions. Each tiny choice and each small action step will move you that one step closer to embodying this joyful and confident version of yourself. Knowing her intimately is essential. Without this, it is too easy to drift around and be highly influenced by society and other people’s expectations and intentions instead of your own needs and desires.
