I see too many mamas struggling with postpartum fatigue, just getting through each day in a period that should be cherished. We cannot truly enjoy these early years when our children are so little if we are facing health issues, feeling isolated, and not prioritizing ourselves. I believe we don’t just have to survive these early years of mothering, but with intention and commitment to ourselves, each one of us can thrive in motherhood.
Unfortunately, it is all too common for moms to struggle with burnout and overwhelm. I see it in so many moms I know and work with. I have been through this myself and know that there is a better way for each one of us. With some tools and support, moms can start truly enjoying motherhood and find their own way of parenting that brings a sense of ease and confidence like nothing else can. This is possible, and I want more moms to move out of the struggle. I wrote this book to show other moms that they are not alone in this journey and to provide guidance on how to create the calm they desire. You can explore these insights further in my book Nourished Mama.
I am also obsessed with creating optimal postpartum health and had to get some of my research out on paper. If you haven’t yet, check out my post on Prioritize Yourself for Thriving Motherhood for more ways to support your own recovery and wellbeing as a mom.
My Passion for Maternal Wellbeing and Thriving Motherhood
Because I know that when moms take care of themselves and truly nourish their minds and bodies, they can be bursting with energy, joy, and vitality. This is what our little ones need. When we are at our best, we can show up for our kids like the mamas we want to be.
Also, when moms are well, they have the capacity to support their families to be as healthy and fulfilled as possible too. If a mom brings more healthy habits into her life, these will likely filter down to her children. Healthy ways of living will naturally become theirs as well. Remember, we are their role models, and if we eat carrots, practice gratitude, and engage in creative endeavours, they too will likely adopt these behaviours in time. Imagine how much better off your little ones’ health and happiness will be if these habits are instilled through our actions from such a young age!
So I want moms to be healthy and happy so they are more fulfilled as parents and so it is easier for them to raise the next generation to be the same. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could change the trajectory of our children away from chronic illness and mental health challenges being the norm, and instead help this next generation thrive?

I also think that when moms are truly well, they are more able to have a greater impact in the world outside the home. They have the energy and focus to create positive changes at work, in the community, and for the planet if they are not bogged down in exhaustion and survival. The world needs us to rise up, and that starts with taking care of ourselves.

Common Motherhood Struggles: Postpartum Fatigue and Burnout
Unfortunately, I believe postnatal depletion, mood issues, health challenges, and simply struggling too much in the early years of motherhood are far too common. While not every mama experiences these challenges, I think we all know someone who has, or still is, even if they appear shiny and happy on the outside. Their inner world might be very different.
With the loss of a village, societal expectations of mothers, and the realities of our world today, many moms are having a harder time in motherhood than they expected. But the great news is that you and I can start changing this!
