Episode 64 - Traditional Chinese Medicine for Every Stage of Motherhood with Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Dr Brittany Wickert

As someone who’s always exploring healing practices – blending teas, working with herbs, and diving into different wellness modalities – Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has always intrigued me, even though I didn’t know much about it.

So, when I discovered the work of Dr Brittany Wickert, a Doctor of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine who supports mothers and children through this ancient approach, I knew I had to invite her on the podcast.

In this episode, Dr Brittany shares how TCM can support emotional and hormonal balance, enhance fertility, ease pregnancy symptoms, nurture postpartum recovery, and guide us through every stage of motherhood.

Dr Brittany and I chat about:

  • What Traditional Chinese Medicine is
  • How TCM can help us understand our cycles and bring our hormones into balance
  • The importance of the liver for our hormone health and how to support the health of our liver
  • The various emotions that each organ holds
  • How acupuncture and herbs support fertility and prepare the body for conception
  • Common pregnancy and postpartum challenges and TCM-based solutions
  • Practical ways we can integrate TCM tools into our daily lives

Dr Brittany Wickert is a Board-Certified Doctor of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine with a special focus on women’s health and hormones. She’s also a yoga teacher with advanced training in pre and postnatal yoga, yoga nidra, meditation, and Critical Alignment Yoga Therapy. In her practice, Dr Brittany integrates both Chinese and Western herbal medicine, offering her patients a well-rounded and unique approach to care.

A natural educator and frequent guest speaker at retreats and workshops, she regularly teaches on women’s cycles, emotional wellness, and the mind-body connection. As a home-birth mama, she understands the beauty and complexity of motherhood and brings wisdom and clarity to each stage — from fertility and pregnancy to postpartum and beyond. She also loves working with kids, supporting families with digestion, immunity, sleep, and more.
